Garrett Kelleher, executive c hairman of Shelbourne Development Ltd and the Shelbourne Development Group, Inc ., is an innovative proper ty entrepreneur and developer. He currently owns extensive personal and business real estate interests in the United States, Ireland, France and Belgium and will own 100 percent of the Chicago Spire equity.
Born in Ireland, Kelleher, 45, star ted his career in Chicago in 1984. He worked as a subcontractor renovating run-down apar tments before moving into proper ty development and investment.
In 1996, Kelleher returned to Ireland to focus on urban redevelopment and regeneration and has since under taken proper ty development valued at more than 2.5 billion euro around the world, not including the Chicago Spire. In Ireland alone, Kelleher has a number of projects at various stages of development with a gross area potentially in excess of 4 million square feet. Regarded as a shrewd negotiator and bold decisionmaker, Kelleher has consistently generated superior returns from his investments.
Garrett Kellehers current primary focus in the United States is the development of the iconic Chicago Spire, a 2,000 foot elegant twisting tower with 150 floors containing 1,200 unique and modern residences with the finest amenities available anywhere in the world. It will be the tallest residential building in the world and the arc hitect is the internationally renowned Santiago Calatrava.
Kelleher has a strong connection to Chicago, a city that he considers his second home. He is currently a member of the
Chicago Metropolitan Organizing Committee, a group dedicated to bringing the 2016 Summer Olympic Games to the city.
